End-of-life builder floors
A large part of Lewisville went up between the late 1970s and the mid 1990s, on slab, with the flooring package of the day: wall-to-wall carpet, sheet vinyl in the kitchen and baths, and ceramic in the entry. All three of those materials are now well past their design life, and sheet vinyl in particular tends to be hiding an adhesive that has gone brittle.
The practical consequence is that Lewisville jobs are usually whole-ground-floor, and the tear-out is a bigger share of the work than the installation. Old sheet vinyl adhesive has to come off the slab properly rather than being covered over, or the new floor telegraphs every ridge of it.
Castle Hills and the newer north Lewisville developments are current slab construction and behave like any other new build in the county — engineered wide-plank or rigid-core LVP, slab flattened first, one material running continuously through the open areas.

Our kitchen has old sheet vinyl. Does it all have to come up?
Yes, and so does the adhesive under it. Old sheet vinyl adhesive dries hard and uneven, and anything laid over it will eventually show those ridges through the new surface.
One note: sheet vinyl and its adhesive from before roughly the mid-1980s can contain asbestos. If your house is that old we will not disturb it until it has been tested, and testing is inexpensive relative to doing it wrong.
Is it worth replacing all the flooring at once or doing it room by room?
At once, if you can. Doing it in stages means paying mobilisation and tear-out costs more than once, and it means matching material and dye lot to something bought a year earlier — which is rarely exact.
It is also the only way to get a single continuous floor with no transition strips, which is most of the visual gain in an older Lewisville house.
